APIMaster vs fal: Comparing Seedance Prices Without Mixing Billing Units

See the difference between fal's approximate Seedance second prices and its token formula, with a worked 720p example against APIMaster.

APIMaster's checked Seedance prices were lower than fal's published approximate 720p rates on November 5, 2026. The interesting part is how to calculate the difference: fal bills by video tokens, so its headline second price is an estimate rather than a universal conversion.

This site sends readers to APIMaster. We show the calculation and link both providers so you can decide whether it applies to your job.

The published price comparison

USD per generated output second, 720p and no reference-video input. fal's published figures below describe output with audio. Confirm the same audio configuration on your chosen APIMaster route before treating the job as fully matched.

Version APIMaster lowest public rate fal published approximate rate Lower than fal headline
Seedance 2.5 $0.218916864 About $0.4730 About 53.72%
Seedance 2.0 $0.14321664 About $0.3034 About 52.80%
Seedance 2.0 Fast $0.072503424 About $0.2419 About 70.03%

APIMaster had five public routes for 2.5, five for 2.0 and three for Fast. Its configured market reference rates were $0.23112, $0.1512 and $0.12096 respectively; the checked lows were 5.28%, 5.28% and 40.06% below those references. Those are separate comparisons from the fal savings above.

A five-second 2.5 example using fal's formula

fal's page gives this token formula:

video tokens = height × width × seconds × 24 / 1024

For 1280×720 output lasting five seconds:

720 × 1280 × 5 × 24 / 1024 = 108,000 tokens
108,000 / 1,000 × $0.0214 = $2.3112

APIMaster's checked 720P output rate gives:

5 × $0.218916864 = $1.09458432

Against this specific fal formula example, the difference is approximately 52.64%. Against fal's rounded headline of $0.4730 per second, it is 53.72%. Both calculations have a stated basis; they should not be presented as the same exact invoice comparison.

When the example stops applying

The formula depends on pixel dimensions as well as duration. An aspect-ratio label alone is not enough to recreate the token total. Reference-video input, another resolution, a changed token rate or a different endpoint can also change the bill.

For a real comparison, save the requested parameters, the estimate and the final usage charge. If the final price differs from your spreadsheet, inspect those three records before assuming the provider has changed its rate.

Price is one part of a provider decision

If you already have a working integration, compare the saving with the cost of changing it. Authentication, task polling, error handling and output delivery need to work in your application. Do not assume two providers expose identical request bodies because they use the same model family.

We did not benchmark queue times, reliability or output quality. For wider price context, see the provider overview; for a lower-cost version, see Fast versus Mini.
